It's a bizarre day at the Memphis City Council.
First, embattled City Atty. Elbert Jefferson poured out his heart in the hallway outside the City Council committee room. He's hurt that Mayor Pro Tem Myron Lowery had City Council Atty. Allan Wade follow him into City Hall on Sunday - despite a court order allowing him back into the building.
"That's about as embarrassing and as clear a violation of the order," Jefferson said.

He almost looked like he had tears in his eyes at one point: "My kids will always be able to pull up on the Internet: Elbert Jefferson fired, Elbert Jefferson escorted out of the building."
Now, former City Councilman Edmund Ford Sr. (in photo, right) on is milling around the committee room with members of media.
He won't say whether he's running for city of Memphis mayor, but he's acting coy, speaking cryptically and saying he'll answer all questions "later today."
Blogger Thaddeus Matthews and City Councilman Edmund Ford Jr. - Ford Sr.'s son (in photo, left) -- are also in the room. Matthews is pointing to Ford Jr., saying he's running for mayor instead of his dad.
Ford Sr. at one point approached a reporter: "People are very tired in this city."
"You know why?" he said. "Everything that's happening, people think that people are asleep right now but they're watching. Hey, they're sitting and watching everything."
He paused: "That's very important."
Now the room is filling back up for the Parks Committee meeting.

Bizzare Day???? - Every day is bizzare for the Memphis City Council.
I understand Elbert. I cry everytime I think of Memphis City Government.
I am glad that Elbert Jefferson's kids will be able to see articles about him. He and Ricky Wilkins have trounced people's name through the mud and now it is there turn. File a complaint with the bar today against them for their reckless and illegal use of taxpayer money:

I just wanted to give my coment on the interim mayor,Myron Lowery. All of the canditates that is running for mayor sucks. Me being a citizen of Memphis, has seen nothing but confusion, listing to them bickering everytime you turn on your television, from most of the canditates, I think that it's ridiculous the way they have been caring on. I wouldn't waste my time voting for these clowns.
No Edmund, what people are tired of is you and the rest of your family.
It matters not which Ford runs they will be big losers in the Mayor's race. What a rining endorsement it is to have Thaddeus Mathews supporting you. YEAH RIGHT! A LOSER FOR A LOSER! That's their campaign slogan.
Ford Sr. must be behind on his utility bill again or his taxes and he thinks if he becomes Mayor, which is a pipe dream in itself, he can let the payments continue to slide and nobody will be the wiser.
I agree with Josephine. I would have to give you an F on grammar/spelling but your thoughts are geniune. I bet your are a proud graduate of Memphis city schools.
We've only lived here 2-1/2 years but it has been THE most bizarre 2-1/2 years in our lives. Memphis could be an awesome city but with these wacko's running it, it will never be. I don't feel sorry one bit for Jefferson, he resigned for pete's sake and now acts all offended that he, the great attorney, was fired? GET REAL.
COME ON MEMPHIS. King Willy is OUT you have a chance to be a great city, an honest city, a city people want to come to and STAY in.
that blagger thaddaous youngster and josephine and yucko is all right, but dis aint right, it was only right when King Willie "Mugabe" was on da throne. Keeping it real is what da city need not all dis discoursing about complainin and rough riding on the down and dirty. i gonna vote for the other King cause i seen him keeping it real in da ring. he can drop kick those hilljacks and wannabe playa's on the council.
They BOTH should run. As they say, two "Ed's" are better than one!
Hmm, am I seeing things, or does Jr. have a thinning problem Sr. doesn't have?
