Your Daily Mayoral Retirement Update

Nothing has changed on the Willie Herenton retirement front... at least for now.

"There are no changes that I am aware of," said Herenton spokeswoman Toni Holmon-Turner, in an e-mail to Reporter Amos Maki.

With the July 30 change of power looking more likely by the day, what's keeping Herenton from submitting his written intent to retire?

If it's looking more like he's going to retire...but doesn't...then, as you say, "what's keeping Herenton from submitting his written intent to retire?"

Because he has proven that his word means nothing...that whatever integrity he had is gone...that he is the brother to the four winds and blows from another direction every day... In other words, the people of Memphis recognize that he is a liar whose word and deed is not to be trusted.

So, if his word means nothing then, even if he does say he is retiring, we know not to believe him.

You nailed that one Bobby!!
