Herenton to speak at Lowery's swearing-in

We're learning more about interim Mayor Myron Lowery's swearing-in ceremony.

Bishop J.O. Patterson Jr., the city's first black mayor, will give the invocation. Lowery will be sworn in by United States District Court Judge Bernice Donald. Steve Gaines, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church, will give the benediction. Former Mayor Willie Herenton will speak and so will Lowery.

Incoming city chief administrative officer Jack Sammons, a former city councilman, is on the seventh floor and Lowery is settling to the mayor's office.

What better words can you give but Praise God for a change after 5 elections of the same person. He was not a good example for us to follow. A leader takes us in a direction to set the bar high. The bar was too low. Please, please have term limits.

Someone put a muzzle on Willie. He no more needs to speak, yet again, than I do! Arrogant narcissist.

To Praise God!...

fyi... The voters in the city passed a referendum last year and enacted term limits for the mayor and council. Both are limited to two terms.
